BRIJ PROGRAMMES


Brij Leela
According to the Bhagavata Purana, Sri Krishna along with the gopis had danced the rasa dance on the banks of the Yamuna in Vrindavan. When the gopis felt conceited about Lord Krishna dancing with them, He disappeared from their midst. In the agony of separation from their beloved Krishna, the gopis recalled and enacted His lilas (divine pastimes of His life) which in course of time came to be known as the Rasalilas. The Rasalila in its present form is ascribed to Svami Haridas and Sri Narayan Bhatt. Only young Brahmin boys of 13 to 14 years of age can perform the Rasalila.
Brij Cultural
Focusing the Brij culture that includes “Makhan Chor Lila” (the act of stealing the butter by Lord Krishna), “Moha Rass” (Romance with Brij girl Shri Krishna), “Lath mar Holi” (play of beating of Lord Krishna and his companions with sticks by ladies) “Mayur Nritya” (a dance of peacock performed by lord Krishna), typical folk dance of Brij, Krishna theme which contains the birth lord Krishna, his deeds of childhood, killing of Kansh, the surmons given to Arjun by Lord Krishna,
Brij Holy

Here the famous Lath mar Holi is played in the sprawling compound of the Radha Rani temple. Thousands gather to witness the Lath Mar holi when women beat up men with sticks as those on the sidelines become hysterical, sing Holi Songs and shout Sri Radhey or Sri Krishna. The Holi songs of Braj mandal are sung in pure Braj Bhasha.In Mathura, the birth place of Lord Krishna, and in Vrindavan this day is celebrated with special puja and the traditional custom of worshipping Lord Krishna,

Brij Nritya

Simply called Mayur dance, it portrays the beautiful dance performed by the peacock before rainfall. This dance, performed during the monsoon season, celebrates the greenery brought about by the rain. The Mayur dance depicts the love between Lord Krishna and Radha. Lord Krishna in his eagerness to please his beloved, changes into a peacock and dances. He is joined by Radha in this dance.

Braj-Bhoomi Highlights is richly interwoven with the legend of Lord Krishna. Lord Krishna, a symbol of  Love, Peace and Harmony.  Mathura, traditionally recognised as the capital of Braj-Bhoomi, is the land where Lord Krishna was born and spent his youth. The Twin city of Vrindavan, 15 km. away, is integral to the legend of Lord Krishna. This is the place where Lord Krishna played his flute and performed his many leelas (acts).
